Ice Cream Nights After regular closing at 5:00 PM, Museum reopens at 7:00 PM on Wednesdays and Thursdays. At a reduced ticket price of $3.50, visitors take a full-length trolley ride at 7:30 PM, and receive ice cream cones at its conclusion. This is a very popular event with local residents as well as tourists; particularly after a long hot day at the beach, an evening ride through quiet woods is a refreshing treat, and children are predictably excited about the ice cream (included with ticket). |
| Saturday, July 2: | Founders' Day Trolley Parade The trolley parade is a yearly joint celebration of Independence Day and the Museum's birthday (the founders purchased our first car on July 5, 1939). Many trolleys that see little or no regular service are brought out on this day, with an expert narration for spectators. |
| Sunday, July 10: | MoxieT Day and MoxieT Congress meeting The Museum has hosted the New England MoxieT Congress Annual Meeting for many years. Free samples will be offered of that famous Maine-created elixir & soft drink - MoxieT. A wide variety of MoxieT collectibles will be available, and the famous Moxie Mobile will be on display. |
| Friday, August 19: | Southern Maine Libraries Reading Celebration This event was initiated in 2001 as the culmination of the summer reading programs of the Southern Maine Library District. Former First Lady Barbara Bush, a part-time resident of Kennebunkport, read to children at the first event; other celebrities and children's authors and illustrators help make the celebration memorable for the thousands of children and adults who attend. Free tickets are provided for the reading program participants, while the Museum is open to the public and many residents and visitors to the area attend. The event also includes a book sale, food and craft stalls, and other activities, as well as an increased operation schedule. |
| Saturday and Sunday, September 3 - 4: |
Members' Weekend (Museum open regular hours to public) |
| Saturday and Sunday, September 24 - 25 AND October 1 - 2: |
Pumpkin Patch Trolley In this immensely popular event, each visitor rides to a field designated as the pumpkin patch, which has been filled with pumpkins donated by or purchased from local growers. After selecting their pumpkins (included in regular ticket price), visitors receive baggage claim tickets while their pumpkins ride back to the visitors' center on mail car #108. |
| Saturday and Sunday, October 8 - 9: |
Bus and Trackless Trolley Days |
| Monday, Oct. 10: | Columbus Day: Last weekday operation |
| Sunday, Oct. 30: | Last day of regular season |
| Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 3 - 4 AND 10 - 11: |
Kennebunkport's Christmas Prelude Christmas Prelude is a popular town-wide event that draws many residents and visitors for shopping, caroling, tree lighting and the arrival of Santa. Seashore Trolley Museum re-opens for rides at a reduced ticket price, weather permitting (large amounts of snow prohibit operation). The Museum Store will be open, and refreshments will be served. For further information, visit www.christmasprelude.com or www.trolleymuseum.org. |
